It is with extreme regret that we write this letter to inform you of a potential change in your health insurance coverage.

We have made the decision that as of August 19, 2021, we will no longer continue to be your physicians if you are an employee of Walt Disney World and have chosen the “Orlando Health Network” as your insurance option; or if you are an employee of Orlando Health Hospital System.

Orlando Health has made a unilateral decision to cancel its long-term contracts with all of its independent community physicians. They have attempted to replace them with a proposal which is neither fair nor equitable.

At Southwest Internal Medicine Specialists, we remain an unapologetically independent practice and our allegiance first and foremost is to you— the patient. We believe that the contract Orlando Health Network is currently proposing to independent physicians is unjust, uncompromising, and ultimately antagonistic; leading us to conclude that their ultimate aim is to drive independent physicians out of practice. Since February, our sincere efforts to negotiate with them for fair terms has consistently fallen on deaf ears. We will therefore NOT continue to participate as providers in their network under these conditions.

Being your primary health providers is a privilege you have extended us and many of you are long time patients in our practice. If you are unhappy to lose us as your physicians, we urge you to reach out to Orlando Health directly. Make your opinions heard and know that your voice matters. Contact
